ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered legal proceedings against any witness found to have resorted to deliberate falsehood.

The 31 page order was penned by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in reference to a case of false testimony.

The written order stated that compromise on truth is to compromise on the future of the society.

The verdict further stated that the country’s judicial system has suffered a lot as a consequence of deviation from the truth and it is the time to correct those mistakes. “A judicial system which permits deliberate falsehood is doomed to fail and a society which tolerates it is destined to self-destruct.”

The top court also ordered the Supreme Court Registrar to forward copies of the order to all high courts.
